How do students complete their e-SET Plans?

Schools determine what sections of the three major modules (Student Details, Aspirations and Goals, Academic Development) are relevant to their students’ needs.  Students then complete the relevant sections online either at home, in a classroom setting, or with the guidance of their school Careers Counsellor.

At either the completion of each section, each module or the entire ACE e-SET Plan, students can generate either a printed document or electronic (pdf) file.  As well as viewing access individual student SET Plans, authorised school staff members have the additional option to view and generate an aggregated report incorporating all students registered for the ACE e-SET Plans. The aggregated report summarises the career interest areas, top career goals and subjects selected by each student.

How long does the e-course take to complete?

The school facilitators conduct the e-course in the classroom utilising the detailed Facilitator’s Guide (available on the school’s ACE Admin account).  Students are guided through the six modules of their e-workbook by the facilitator.   The modules are based on the Career Choice Cycle (Prideaux, 2003) and are designed to take up one double lesson per week during a term.  The six modules are flexible and may be expanded or condensed so that schools can schedule the e-course depending on the available lesson time.

The minimum recommended time requirement for the e-course is 6 double periods, or approximately 12 hours of classroom time. However, some of the activities could be assigned as student homework tasks if less than 12 hours is available.  Nevertheless, the e-course is likely to be most effective when more than 12 hours are made available to allow for more class discussion, in depth career information investigations and the consolidation of career development process and skills.

How much does each licence (per student) cost?

We respect the need for schools to keep their costs down, and have priced each licence accordingly. Currently ACE e-SET Plans are available for under $5 per student and the ACE e-course is available for less than $10 per student. Please contact us for further information.

Does our school get to ‘roll over’ any unused licences each year?

Yes. If your school does not use all of your available licences during the current year, the unused number of licences will be credited to your school upon ordering for the next year. When ordering the total number of licences required for the relevant year is placed on the online order form.  A rollover adjustment for any unused licences from the previous year will be credited on the invoice generated upon receipt of the order. For example: Year 1 you order 120 licences and only use 112 (thus 8 unused licences); Year 2 you need 140 licences and order that amount – your invoice for this year will show your total order of 140 licences less 8 credits rolled over so that the required payment is for 132 licences only.

How long are the licences current?

To allow students to access their ACE e-SET Plan and/or e-course workbook information throughout Senior School, their individual ACE account is current for each student for three years after registration. Administrative staff can also access this information for three years for each student.

How does my school purchase an ACE product (e-SET Plan and/or e-course)?

Prior to placing an order, the school primary contact (e.g., the Careers Counsellor or equivalent) will need to arrange a general email address that is used as the Admin login by all school staff members either facilitating the ACE e-course or requiring viewing access to student e-SET Plans (alternatively, the Careers Counsellor may choose to just utilise their existing email address).  The school primary contact then completes an online order form.

Upon receipt of your order the school primary contact will be emailed an invoice, including the total number of licences ordered, any credit adjustment for unused licences from the previous year, and payment information. After payment is received, the primary contact will receive the password for the ACE Admin login (can be changed upon initial login), as well as the School key.

The School key is used by each student when registering their individual ACE e-course and/or e-SET Plan account during the first ACE login process. To set up their account, each student enters the School key along with their school email address and a password of their choice. School email addresses are used as they allow quick and convenient password recovery if the student forgets their ACE password. (Note that email addresses are only used for ACE login purposes and are not disclosed to any third party.)

Once a student has set up their ACE account, they are ready to participate in the e-course and/or start their individual e-SET Plan.

What if students forget their password?

If a student forgets their password, they can simply click on ‘Forgotten your password?‘ at the bottom of the login page.  An email with a new password will be sent to the email address they have set up.  It is highly recommended that this is the student’s school email address to facilitate access to their new password.  Once the student has logged in, they can update their password at any time under the ‘My Account’ tab.

What if a student is not sent a new password to their email address even though they have clicked the ‘Forgotten your password?‘ link?

An email with a new password is sent to the email address the student has set up when they initially registered.  If the student has incorrectly entered their email address upon registration, or when completing the password reset box, then the automatic password recovery process cannot work as it can only deliver a new password to a valid email address.  In this instance, the ACE facilitator should contact [email protected] for assistance.
